Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers Prediction & Betting Pick | NFL Thursday Night Football October 29, 2026

This game feels much closer than the spread suggests. Green Bay may be at home, but both teams enter Thursday night dealing with significant issues in the trenches, and neither side is playing its cleanest football. The market still gives the Packers a level of respect that their recent performances haven't fully earned.

Green Bay is coming off a tough divisional loss to Detroit in a game where the offense moved the ball but consistently failed to finish drives. Jordan Love threw 45 passes, the run game never found traction, and penalties repeatedly put the offense behind schedule. Those are not ideal signs heading into a short week.

The offensive line is the story I keep coming back to. Injuries have piled up for the Packers, and depth is being tested at the worst possible time. Even if Green Bay wins, it's difficult to trust them to pull away comfortably against a Carolina team that has already proven it can compete on the road.

The Panthers were embarrassed by Tampa Bay last week, but the final score doesn't tell the full story. Turnovers and special-teams mistakes handed the Buccaneers short fields all afternoon. Carolina's offense has actually taken a major step forward this season, ranking among the better units in the league in both yardage and scoring.

That's why I like Carolina to stay within the number. Bryce Young doesn't need to outplay Love for this bet to cash. He simply needs to avoid the catastrophic mistakes that buried the Panthers against Tampa Bay. If Carolina protects the football, this spread becomes very attractive.

The strongest player prop on my card is Chuba Hubbard. The workload trend is impossible to ignore. After averaging limited volume last season, Hubbard has become the centerpiece of Carolina's rushing attack, handling nearly two-thirds of the team's carries while averaging 76.5 rushing yards per game.

The matchup is quietly favorable as well. Green Bay's season-long run-defense numbers look respectable, but the Packers have struggled badly against zone rushing concepts. Carolina runs zone at one of the highest rates in football, and Hubbard's running style fits exactly where Green Bay has been vulnerable.

I also like Tetairoa McMillan in this spot. If Green Bay's pass rush creates pressure, Young will need his most reliable playmaker to answer. McMillan continues to operate as a primary downfield option, and game script could easily push Carolina toward a more aggressive passing approach by the second half.

On the Green Bay side, Josh Jacobs stands out. The Packers desperately need more balance after becoming too pass-heavy last week. Jacobs remains their most complete offensive weapon, and with questions surrounding the offensive line, expect Green Bay to manufacture touches through both the running game and short passing concepts.

The rushing and receiving combo line is appealing because Jacobs doesn't need one specific game script. If the Packers play from ahead, the rushing volume should be there. If Carolina keeps it competitive, Jacobs remains heavily involved as a pass catcher. Either path creates a strong opportunity to get over the number.

As for the total, I'm leaning under. Both coaching staffs understand the importance of establishing the run, shortening the game, and protecting quarterbacks behind battered offensive lines. Thursday night games also tend to be less efficient offensively due to the lack of preparation time, which supports a lower-scoring script.

When I put everything together, I see a competitive game with both teams leaning heavily on their ground attacks. Carolina is better than last week's result suggests, Green Bay isn't healthy enough to be laying this many points comfortably, and the matchup lines up extremely well for Hubbard's workload. That's where I'm putting my money.
