Florida A&M @ Miami Florida Prediction & Betting Pick | College Football September 10, 2026

Florida A&M walk into Miami’s home opener as a massive underdog, but the number is so inflated that it opens the door for a very playable spot — especially with how Cristobal handles these mismatches. Miami looked sharp in Week 1, no doubt. Darian Mensah was nearly perfect, going 27/30 for 401 yards and five touchdowns, and Malachi Toney looked like he hasn’t missed a beat after winning ACC Rookie of the Year. But Cristobal teams don’t empty the tank in games like this. They don’t chase style points, they don’t run up scores, and they usually pull starters early once the game is in hand. That matters when you’re staring at a spread touching sixty.

Florida A&M’s offense has been rough, but their defense is legit at the FCS level. Ten sacks and seven TFLs against Albany State, plus solid money‑down defense in both games. They’re not stopping Miami’s athletes — nobody’s pretending that — but they can create just enough disruption to slow drives and force Cristobal into long, methodical possessions. That’s exactly what you want when grabbing a monster number.

Miami’s efficiency on third and fourth down was excellent against Stanford, but FAMU’s defense has actually been strong in those situations. Their offense is the problem — 4-of-15 and 4-of-18 on money downs — but that’s also why their defense spends so much time on the field. Against Miami, that imbalance means the Rattlers will eventually wear down, but not necessarily in a way that leads to a 60‑point blowout.

Special teams also tilt this toward a cover. FAMU blocks kicks, covers punts well, and makes their field goals. Their kickoff coverage is shaky, but Miami hasn’t shown they can exploit that yet. If anything, FAMU’s ability to steal a possession or flip field position helps keep this inside the number.

Mensah should still cook — the matchup is too favorable. FAMU’s offensive line allowed three sacks and seven TFLs to Albany State, so Miami’s front should feast. That’s why his passing props are absolutely live. Quick throws, explosive receivers, and a defense that blitzes aggressively create the perfect environment for a 300‑yard night and four touchdowns before he’s pulled.

The classification gap is real, but the game script matters more. Miami will dominate, rotate early, and lean on the run late. FAMU’s defense will make just enough plays to avoid a total avalanche, and their special teams will keep them afloat. Miami wins comfortably — but comfortably doesn’t mean by sixty.

I’m grabbing the points and riding the Mensah props.
