The Civil War rivalry takes center stage this weekend, but based on form, this one looks like a mismatch. Oregon enters as the No. 6-ranked team in the country with a 3-0 record, while Oregon State is still searching for its first win of the season.

Oregon Stateโ€™s Struggles

The Beavers are off to a disastrous 0-3 start. They dropped home games to Cal (34-15) and Fresno State (36-27) before being blown out on the road by Texas Tech, 45-14. Their offense has been stagnant, scoring 15 or fewer points in two of three outings, while the defense has been porous, giving up over 38 points per game.

Transfer QB Maalik Murphy has weapons in RB Anthony Hankerson and some emerging receivers, but turnovers and inconsistency have plagued this team. The vibes in Corvallis are bleak, and head coach Trent Bray is under increasing pressure.

Oregonโ€™s Dominance

Meanwhile, the Ducks are firing on all cylinders. Theyโ€™ve beaten Montana State, Oklahoma State, and Northwestern by a combined 132 points, averaging 54 points per game while holding opponents to just 10 per contest.

Quarterback Dante Moore has slid seamlessly into the starting role, looking every bit like a Heisman candidate. With explosive receivers like Malik Benson and Dakorien Moore and a deep rushing attack, Oregon has been impossible to slow down. Defensively, the Ducks rank among the nationโ€™s best against the pass and have been creating turnovers consistently.

In their last home game, Oregon crushed Oklahoma State 69-3, and Dan Lanning has shown no hesitation in keeping his foot on the gas even with a big lead. This game should serve as another tune-up before the Ducks face Penn State in Week 5.

Rivalry History

This series has been one-sided in recent years, with Oregon winning 14 of the last 17 meetings. The Ducks already own the largest margin of victory in the rivalry (69-10 in 2017), and given the disparity this year, that record could be threatened.

Oregon Stateโ€™s best efforts have usually come at home, but with Autzen Stadium behind the Ducks, this matchup heavily favors Oregon. The Beaversโ€™ defense has also been gashed by explosive plays, surrendering 22 plays of 20+ yards this season. Oregon, on the other hand, is averaging seven such plays per game and has already racked up six gains of 50+ yards.

First Half Betting Edge

The Ducks have been ruthless early in games. Through three weeks, theyโ€™ve outscored opponents 96-6 in the first half. Their offense has found the end zone on 13 of 17 opening-half possessions, while the defense hasnโ€™t even allowed a red-zone trip in that span. Opponents are just 3-for-20 on third-down conversions in the first half.

Oregon State, in contrast, has been slow out of the gates, getting outscored 65-18 before halftime. That sets up a clear edge for bettors.
