Colorado Rockies (Kyle Freeland) at Milwaukee Brewers (Jacob Misiorowski) Prediction & Betting Pick | MLB Regular Season July 26, 2026

Colorado–Milwaukee lines up as one of the most lopsided pitching matchups we’ve seen all season, and it’s hard to overstate how wide the gap is between these two arms right now. Kyle Freeland has been fighting it all year — loud contact, home runs, no swing‑and‑miss, and no real signs of a turnaround. A 7.28 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, and hitters batting .281 off him tell the story, but the deeper numbers make it even worse: a 4.64 FIP and a fly‑ball profile that keeps putting him in danger. He’s given up 4+ earned runs in three straight starts, and the “Coors effect” isn’t the excuse — he’s been just as hittable on the road.

Milwaukee’s offense hasn’t been scorching lately, but they’re still a top‑five scoring team and far more dangerous at home. Even if they’re weaker against lefties, Freeland’s current form gives them multiple paths to damage. They don’t need to be perfect — they just need to be themselves. With a .252 team average, .335 OBP, and 5.01 runs per game, this lineup has more than enough firepower to punish a struggling arm.

On the other side, Jacob Misiorowski has been the best pitcher in baseball this season. Full stop. He’s the runaway NL Cy Young, and the numbers look like something out of a video game: 1.57 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, 39.4% strikeout rate, and a 1.74 FIP. His command has been sharp, his walk rate is low, and hitters simply don’t square him up. And at home? He’s even better. Dominant is an understatement.

There’s been talk about workload management — he was pulled early in his last start — but even five innings of Misiorowski is usually enough to put Milwaukee in position to win. The Brewers’ bullpen is strong, their defense is top‑five in efficiency, and they’ve been one of the best run‑prevention teams in baseball all season. If Misiorowski hands them a lead, they’re built to protect it.

Colorado’s offense has been solid overall, but the road version of this lineup is a different story. They’re hitting .255 with a .420 slugging, but a lot of that comes from Coors. Away from home, they’ve been mid-tier at best, and they’ve already seen Misiorowski once this season — at Coors — and couldn’t score on him. Expecting them to suddenly solve him in Milwaukee is a stretch.

The Rockies’ pitching staff is the worst in baseball by almost every metric: 5.47 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, 10.3 hits allowed per nine, and 598 runs surrendered. Their bullpen has been just as rough, with a bottom‑three hold total and a 61% save rate. Even if Freeland somehow keeps them afloat early, the relief unit is a liability waiting to happen.

Milwaukee’s staff, meanwhile, has been elite. A 3.45 ERA, 1.166 WHIP, and the second‑fewest hits allowed in MLB. They strike out nearly 10 per nine innings and walk very few. Their bullpen has been strong in high‑leverage spots, and their defense ranks seventh in efficiency. Everything about this team supports Misiorowski’s dominance.

Freeland’s career numbers paint the same picture: 4.73 ERA, 1.428 WHIP, and over 10 hits allowed per nine innings. He’s been hittable for years, and this version of him is even worse. Misiorowski, by contrast, has allowed just 112 hits in 181 career innings with a 2.59 ERA and a WHIP under 1.00. This is a mismatch in every possible way.

With the best pitcher in the league facing one of the worst, in a home environment where he’s been untouchable, the angle is simple: back Misiorowski to record the win. Milwaukee should give him run support, and he should give them the lead.
