Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Rams Prediction & Betting Pick | NFL Monday Night Football October 12, 2026

This feels like one of the best game-script bets on the Week 6 board. Buffalo still has one of the league's most explosive offenses, but this is a much tougher road environment against a Rams team that is better than its 2-2 record suggests. Los Angeles has quietly been one of the most complete teams in football, especially on the defensive side.

The Bills enter this matchup off a disappointing loss to New England, and for the first time all season, the offense looked uncomfortable. Buffalo managed just nine points outside of one productive second quarter and struggled to control possession throughout the game. When this offense fails to establish rhythm early, things can become surprisingly stagnant.

The Rams, meanwhile, are coming off arguably their most impressive win of the season. They went into Philadelphia and completely controlled the game despite committing multiple turnovers. The final score was closer than the performance itself, as Los Angeles outgained the Eagles by more than 200 yards and dictated the tempo for most of the afternoon.

What stands out most is the contrast between these defenses. Buffalo continues to allow over 26 points per game and ranks toward the bottom of the league in several key defensive categories. The Rams, on the other hand, sit near the top of the NFL in total defense and have consistently limited explosive plays.

I also think this game sets up perfectly for Matthew Stafford and the Rams passing attack. Buffalo's secondary has been vulnerable against opposing wide receivers all season, particularly on the outside. Several WR1s have already found success against this unit, and that's exactly where Puka Nacua thrives.

When healthy, Nacua remains the centerpiece of this passing offense. He's averaging nearly 100 receiving yards per game, commanding a 26% target share, and continues to be Stafford's most trusted option in critical situations. The volume is elite and the role couldn't be much stronger.

The matchup only strengthens the case. Buffalo has allowed big receiving performances throughout the early schedule, including a 142-yard eruption from Amon-Ra St. Brown. More importantly, the Bills have consistently given up opportunities to perimeter receivers, which aligns directly with where Nacua sees most of his work.

The scheme angle is another reason I'm backing him. Buffalo plays zone coverage at a high rate, particularly Cover 4 concepts. Nacua has repeatedly shown the ability to find soft spots against zone looks, and Sean McVay does an excellent job using motion and formation adjustments to create favorable matchups for him.

I don't think Nacua needs a massive target total to clear this number either. He's averaging over 14 yards per reception, so five or six productive catches can put him right in range. In a game expected to feature plenty of offensive possessions, those opportunities should be there.

Another factor worth noting is motivation. The Rams return home after a two-game road trip with a chance to move above .500 and make a statement against one of the AFC's top teams. Primetime games at SoFi tend to bring out the aggressiveness in McVay's offense, particularly when Stafford has a favorable matchup outside.

The way I see it, Los Angeles has advantages in defensive form, home field, and matchup versatility. Buffalo is capable of making this a shootout, but if that happens, it only increases the opportunity for Nacua to pile up yards. The Rams should have success moving the football, and their top receiver is positioned to be the biggest beneficiary.
