Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction & Betting Pick | NFL Week 6 October 18, 2026
This matchup presents a pretty straightforward betting angle for me. Houston may only be 1-4, but the offense looked much more organized in its win over Tennessee, and there are two player props that stand out based on role, volume, and matchup. Sometimes the best bets aren't complicated. You follow usage, opportunity, and history.
Let's start with Nico Collins. Some players consistently perform against certain opponents, and Jacksonville has been one of those teams for him. Over his last four meetings with the Jaguars, Collins has cleared this number every single time while averaging just under 120 receiving yards per game.
That's not a small sample fluke either. Collins has repeatedly found success attacking this secondary because of the way Houston creates opportunities for him downfield. Jacksonville's scheme has often left room for big outside receivers to win one-on-one matchups, and Collins is one of the best in the league at exactly that.
The Texans don't run the ball effectively enough to consistently hide behind the ground game, either. Houston ranks near the bottom of the NFL in rushing production, which naturally leads to more responsibility on C.J. Stroud's arm. More dropbacks generally mean more opportunities for Collins.
Even when defenses know where the ball is going, Collins continues to produce. He remains Houston's most dangerous receiving weapon and the player Stroud trusts most in key situations. That's the type of volume profile I want backing a yardage prop.
Jacksonville's defense has played well overall, but the secondary isn't invincible. The Jaguars continue to allow explosive passing plays at times, and Collins only needs a handful of receptions to threaten this number because of his ability to generate chunk gains after the catch.
The second prop I like is Woody Marks over his receiving yards line. This is almost entirely about opportunity. David Montgomery's injury dramatically changes the backfield rotation and opens the door for Marks to take on a much larger workload.
The snap counts after Montgomery exited are incredibly encouraging. Marks essentially played every meaningful snap the rest of the game, signaling that Houston views him as the clear primary option while Montgomery is sidelined. That's exactly the kind of role change I want to attack before the market fully adjusts.
Another reason I like the over is how Houston can use Marks as an extension of the running game. Short dump-offs, screens, checkdowns, and designed outlet routes all become more valuable for an offense that struggles to consistently generate rushing production between the tackles.
The line itself is modest. Marks doesn't need a huge receiving day to cash this ticket. Two or three catches can get the job done, and his expected increase in snaps creates plenty of opportunities for those targets to come naturally within the flow of the offense.
I also think game script helps. Jacksonville enters as the stronger team and could force Houston into more passing situations. If the Texans are chasing points at any stage, those quick throws to running backs become even more valuable and can pile up receiving yards in a hurry.
When I put everything together, I see two strong volume-driven positions. Collins has a proven track record against Jacksonville and remains the focal point of Houston's passing game, while Marks should immediately benefit from a significantly expanded role following Montgomery's injury. That's enough for me to back both overs this week.
