Minnesota Twins (Connor Prielipp) at Milwaukee Brewers (Jacob Misiorowski) Prediction & Betting Pick | MLB Regular Season August 9, 2026
Minnesota–Milwaukee gives us a matchup where both starters walk in trending in opposite directions, and the gap between them is exactly why I’m backing Milwaukee and Jacob Misiorowski to get the win. Prielipp has shown flashes lately — his last three starts have been his best stretch of the season — but this is still a massive jump in difficulty, and the Brewers’ home environment plus Misiorowski’s dominance tilt this matchup heavily.
Prielipp’s recent form deserves credit. A 3.94 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and opponents hitting just .179 with a microscopic .108 wOBA across his last three starts show real improvement. His strikeout rate has climbed to 25.4%, and he’s finally generating soft contact. But the control issues haven’t gone away — an 11.1% walk rate is a problem against a Brewers lineup that draws walks at an elite clip.
Milwaukee’s offense has cooled off over the last week, dropping to an 85 wRC+ with a bottom‑10 slugging mark. But their struggles have mostly come against righties. Against lefties, they’ve been consistently quiet — averaging 3.4 hits and 3.2 strikeouts allowed per game across their last 10 LHP matchups. Outside of the Freeland blowup, every lefty has kept them in check. That’s the one angle that gives Prielipp a path to survive early.
But surviving early isn’t enough when Misiorowski is on the other side.
Misiorowski has been the best pitcher in baseball not named Corbin Burnes. His last three starts have been absurd: 1.69 ERA, 0.56 WHIP, 48% strikeout rate, and opponents hitting .127. His command has sharpened, his fastball is overwhelming, and his slider has been borderline unhittable. When he’s locked in like this, even good offenses struggle — and Minnesota hasn’t been anywhere near good.
The Twins’ offense has cratered. They’ve averaged 1.3 earned runs per game against the last 10 right‑handed starters they’ve faced — and those weren’t elite arms. Wacha allowed one run. Dobnak allowed one. Kirby threw a seven‑inning shutout. If they’re getting shut down by mid‑tier righties, Misiorowski is going to suffocate them.
Minnesota’s one saving grace has been their strikeout discipline — just 17% over their last stretch — but that doesn’t matter against Misiorowski. His stuff forces swings and misses even from low‑K teams. He’s matchup‑proof.
Both bullpens are solid, but Milwaukee’s is better at home and far more trustworthy late. The Brewers’ pitching staff ranks second in MLB in hits allowed, second in ERA, and top‑five in run prevention. Minnesota’s staff sits bottom‑five in ERA, bottom‑five in runs allowed, and bottom‑five in WHIP. If this game becomes a bullpen battle, Milwaukee still holds the edge.
Misiorowski’s career numbers back up everything we’re seeing: 2.56 ERA, 0.907 WHIP, 5.4 hits per nine, and a strikeout‑to‑walk ratio near 5:1. When he starts at home, Milwaukee wins — simple as that.
This matchup is straightforward: the best pitcher in the league against a slumping offense, backed by a better bullpen and a better home environment. Prielipp may keep things respectable early, but Misiorowski should control this game from the first inning.
I’m backing Milwaukee and backing Miz to walk off with another win.
