Pittsburgh Steelers at New Orleans Saints Prediction & Betting Pick | NFL Paris October 25, 2026
This prop feels like a classic case of the market reacting too heavily to recent box scores instead of the role behind the production. Tyler Shough's passing numbers have cooled off over the last two weeks, but context matters. One game came against Minnesota's elite defense, and the other turned into a run-heavy script after New Orleans built a comfortable lead. Those aren't situations I'd expect to repeat here.
The bigger picture tells a different story. Through the first month of the season, Shough was among the most aggressive passers in football, and New Orleans leaned heavily on the passing game. Even if the Saints don't return to those early-season extremes, they're likely to throw more than they did during the last two weeks.
That's where Devaughn Vele becomes interesting. While Chris Olave remains the headline name, Vele has quietly established himself as the clear No. 2 option in this offense. Opportunities have not been an issue. He's seen at least six targets in every game this season and continues to maintain a reliable weekly workload.
Consistency is one of the biggest reasons I'm backing this number. Vele has already cleared this line in four of six games, and there are strong arguments that number could easily be higher. A couple of penalties have erased receptions and yardage that would have pushed him comfortably over in additional contests.
The matchup creates even more reasons for optimism. Pittsburgh's defense is talented overall, but they've been vulnerable in terms of target volume allowed to wide receivers. Opposing quarterbacks have consistently tested this secondary, particularly away from their top coverage options.
A lot of attention will understandably be directed toward Olave. When that happens, Vele is often the player who benefits. He moves around the formation, working both from the slot and outside, giving the Saints flexibility to attack favorable matchups.
I also think this game environment helps. New Orleans enters at 2-4 and desperately needs wins to stay relevant. They're unlikely to sit on the football and play conservatively for four quarters, especially against a Steelers team capable of putting points on the board.
Another factor working in Vele's favor is game flow. Aaron Rodgers has Pittsburgh's offense moving efficiently, and if the Steelers have success offensively, New Orleans will need to stay aggressive through the air. Extra pass attempts are exactly what we're looking for.
The target projection is what really sells me. Once a receiver reaches the six-to-eight target range consistently, a number in the mid-40s starts looking very manageable. Vele doesn't need a huge game. A handful of catches and one explosive play could get him most of the way there.
The Saints offense has become more concentrated than people realize. Olave remains the top option, but Vele has carved out a dependable role that's showing up every week in the target counts. Those opportunities are often more important than raw box-score production.
When I put everything together, I see a receiver with stable volume, favorable matchup dynamics, and a quarterback likely to throw more than recent stat lines suggest. The role is stronger than the number implies, and that's enough for me to back the over.
